Programs

 

MFSC offers the following programs at Callingwood Recreation Centre, Kinsmen Twin Ice Arenas or River Cree Twin Rinks (intersection of Whitemud Drive and Winterburn Road):
 

Learn-to-Skate, Adult Learn-to-Skate – Skate Canada's flagship CanSkate programs for children, youths and adults teaching basic ice skating skills.

Learn-to-PowerSkate – Skate Canada’s hockey learn-to-skate program for children to adults.

Learn-to-FigureSkate – Skate Canada’s figure skating bridge program between Canskate and StarSkate/Competitive Skate.

STARSkate – Skate Canada’s figure skating “test stream”.

CompetitiveSkate – Skate Canada’s figure skating “competitive stream” leading to the Olympics.

AdultSkate – Skate Canada's figure skating stream for adults, parallel to StarSkate.

Day Ice Program – Weekly daytime figure skating practice ice from September through March.

Off-ice Classes – Dance, pilates, conditioning, jump, spin and stretch classes for figure skaters.
 

The club also has a jump harness and a video camera for coaches to use to help develop our skaters. All users of MFSC ice are also expected to follow Mayfield’s On-Ice Code of Behavior.

New!    Skater Code of Conduct

             All junior, senior and adult skaters are expected to read, know and adhere to

             the club's Skater Code of Conduct.  Failure to do so may result in skater removal from the ice.

Introducing  KidSkate! (Winter 2008, Session Three)  

            KidSkate is geared for children 3 to 5 years-old with little or no skating experience. 

            This 30-minute class is designed to get young skaters comfortable on the ice and teach them basic skating skills

            through games, action songs and FUN activities.
